Crowd Sourcing Turns Business On Its Head

Listen to this NPR story (3:59) and ask “How might this model work in higher education?”

Hmm…. if we open our courses, and textbooks, and let students design the learning materials and spaces they want… what would happen to participation and retention rates?

I think that we should sponsor a grant or create a pilot to demonstrate how this would work for our system. We also have to create some sort of support system for faculty/administrators who are fearful of a lack of control.

Sounds like an expansion of peer-to-peer teaching where student work on projects where they determine the scope and direction - it would be a brave instructor that could scale that to an entire class syllabus...
